Empowering Organizations

Who We Are

Our Vision

We are a nonprofit advocacy training organization preparing the next generation of leaders to speak out, organize effectively, and create lasting impact.
We focus on training those who have historically been left out of power—including LGBTQ+ communities, veterans, people of color, and grassroots organizers—through programs that are as practical as they are empowering. Delivered through flexible learning cohorts, our model combines real-world skills with accessible community engagement.  Whether you’re testifying before Congress, organizing a local rally, or learning how to write an op-ed, Basecamp gives you the tools to lead with clarity, strategy, and conviction.

Students come first

When we prioritize our students, we make decisions and take action based on the needs of our students and the best interests of students overall

Respect for others

We believe in making decisions that have the greatest possible impact on individuals and society.

Patricia King

Founder

Basecamp for Change was founded by Trish King, a 20-year Army veteran, combat leader, and nationally recognized advocate for equity in military and public policy spaces. Her path to advocacy wasn’t polished—it was earned in the field, in the fight, and in the long, hard work of building coalitions that last. Trish brings deep lived experience, strategic clarity, and the conviction that change belongs to those who train for it. She’s testified before Congress, advised senior leaders at the Pentagon, and helped shift national conversations around inclusion and service. Now, she’s turning that experience into infrastructure—so more people have what they need to make a difference.
